Rising Sun's Studio Potters
One of the great things about Rising Sun is the studio potters who work there. These potters share space, and the interaction with each other is a form of continuing education for them.
Rising Sun studio members receive reduced prices on clay and glazing and are responsible for scheduling, loading and unloading their firings. They are encouraged and given help to develop and test their own glazes.
If you are a local potter who doesn't have space at home for your wheel, call us for details on joining the Rising Sun Studio Potters.
Landon Cornett is the new Rising SunPottery studio manager. She joined Rising Sun in June of 2019 shortly after graduation in May 2019 from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a BFA in Studio Art with Ceramic Emphasis. Since joining Rising Sun, Landon has become indispensable in the day to day operations of the studio. Her throwing and studio skills are progressing every day as she uses her creativity with her pottery and studio skills. The Statesville resident's goal is to teach and run a studio one day, and in addition to her work at Rising Sun, she works part time for PetSmart and teaches a small beginner pottery wheel class in Statesville.
